[ Ori has been more than happy to allow Trahearne the space and quiet that he might need to feel whatever he needs to feel in light of everything he's just seen and revealed about himself. Each time he falls silent in his own thoughts, she's stayed silent, simply watching emotions play across his face, and this time is no different when he seems caught up in examining how the petal appears in the vial she's given him.
When he finally returns to the moment with a question for her, she smiles. ]
That's right. I know it's a bit... uncommon, but I promise it's a healthy relationship and we're happy together!
[ A genuine smile crosses Trahearne's face when she tells him that. It's strange, knowing that he does indeed consider her one of his own, because if she were actually sylvari, he would have been able to feel her joy from her smile alone. And for some reason, the prospect is enough to make him happy, too. A welcome relief from...well, everything else he'd just felt. ]
I'm so happy to hear that, Ori. You have not one, but two people who love and care deeply for you. I know we've not known each other long, but I'd say you deserve that sort of happiness.
[ After witnessing her put herself down multiple times, despite the kindness and gentleness and sheer potential that brimmed from her, he says this with conviction. It's not up for debate.
And either way, he's the first of a people whose views on love and romance left the other races clutching their pearls. For a people where it was totally normal, and almost expected, for twins to become romantically involved because of their intense empathetic bond. So long as it's healthy for all involved, Trahearne does not think it weird at all. ]
[ When Ori had told Eustace about her boyfriends, he immediately started pointedly teasing her about having a harem. She’s expecting something along the lines of that from Trahearne, for whatever reason, when he surprises her by making rather wholesome and kindhearted remarks instead.
The hint of unease behind her smile gives way to something more sincere and earnest, and most of all moved by what he’s said. ]
That’s... That’s so kind of you to say, Trahearne. I’m really lucky to have them. I can’t say that I thought I would ever... Find a relationship, especially not in a whole other world like this, but... I’m thankful. This place feels more and more like home because of them and because of others I’ve met.
[ She tilts her head at him. ]
So I hope that you’ll find people like that here, too.
[ Trahearne leans back comfortably as she talks, cupping the closed vial in his hand and shutting the book that lay open in his lap. He doesn't really feel like reading anymore - he's happy to chat with Ori for now, and will probably...wander off and do something else once they're finished.
He smiles. ]
That you've made it work not only among the three of you, but in such a volatile realm as this, speaks to your dedication. And not just yours - all three of you. What you have is special. You're lucky to have one another.
[ When she makes her second comment, though, he feels a sting. He gets the implication - this is his home now, and having people around him that love him as fiercely would certainly make it feel more that way. But not in his entire life had the possibility...ever occurred to him. He's always been above. Apart. Away. Alone. He can literally count in one hand who he could most closely define as his equal, in what he would call his personal circle. Finding someone like that here, in a world of mostly strangers seems...impossible. ]
Thank you, Ori. I appreciate the sentiment.
[ His expression is a bit more clouded than it was a moment ago, despite the smile that still graces it. It's like his way of saying, Don't be silly, that will never happen. ]

Just wait until you meet them. Then you’ll see that I’m really the luckiest one, haha...
[ In Ori’s defense, she meant more that she hopes he finds a solid support system of friends. But sometimes things just happen, as Ori has keenly come to know in this realm. She never would have dreamed falling in love with someone here - let alone two someones - and yet here she is. Both Diluc and Thoma began as earnest friends, but perhaps something about the dreaming nature of this place pushes people together. They are both, after all, a dream come true for her, exactly what she needed, that she didn’t know she needed. They make her want to become the best version of herself, and while the romantic nature of their collective relationship is certainly special and precious and something she would never take for granted, she knows that she has found support and motivation in her friends here, too, in people like Trahearne. ]
This place really is full of remarkable people, though. I know you’re going to keep making lots of friends!
[ Trahearne eases a bit when he realizes that's what she means. Friends were easy for him. But...being made to think about the prospect of anything closer than that, even if it was a mistake on his part, still pains him in a weird way. ]
Thank you for sitting with me, Ori. I think...I'm going to go somewhere and think for a little bit. [ He means go home and put his vial away. And cry. He offers her a smile. ] Don't let me keep you any longer. You're in your element in this festival. Go and enjoy it.
